I am looking at buying a 730LP and need some help. The serial number is SRCV79060. This does not relate to any numbers in the serial number chart???? It is recently rebuilt and the mechanic says he put in new pistons from JD which were NOT aluminum. Would this be correct? Tractor is a 5 on a scale of 1 to 10. Has power steering and 3 pt. Isn't $4000.00 a little high?

Thanks for the help

Hey John where bouts in Oklahoma are you from? Im up near Tulsa. You have the power-trol serial number and the tractor serial number plate is down under the clutch pulley. Is the tractor a wide or narrow front? Is it a standard tread or row crop tractor? These things will affect price quite a bit. Four grand sounds plenty steep to me for a LP tractor that you only rate as a 5 out of 10. Give me a holler and Ill try to help you out with this 730.

John have you heard the tractor run and start,LP tractors have high compression pistons to burn that lp gas,if he put anything but these high compression piston in it I beleive it would be hard to start. I just restored a 70 LP STD. John Deere and i stumbled across a set of new old stock pistons from Greg Stephen in franktown Co. if it will start and pull good, not to bad of a price. Later Garland

John, the serial number you are giving is for the remote hydraulic box (Selective Remote Control Valve). The serial number of the tractor is in front of the belt pulley. Also, if they were John Deere pistons, they are aluminum. In my area (northeast Missouri) $4000 should buy a really nice 730. Hope this helps. Mike
