My 310b has a square glass filter that is full of air except about a 1/2 inch or so is this normal the book said to bleed it out with the lever on the pump threw the top plug ,I moved the cam out of the way and it is pumping but it looks like it is just going in and out, is there a check ball in there or something? the machine runs but the air in the filter does not look right. thanks for any help.

It is normal for that to look that way....The only "check valve" is in the transfer pump itself....If , when the engine is running....and there are air bubbles floating up from the bottom of the filter , then that would be a sign of a loose fitting on the suction side of the transfer pump and/or a clogged suction screen in the bottom of the fuel tank...
