Can a 227 mounted picker be mounted on a G John Deere? I have never seen one and always supposed it could not be done , but am curious if it is possible.

I have a 227 Picker brochure from July of 1953. It states, "The John Deere No. 227 Picker mounts on John Deere Models "50", "60", "70", and late Model "A" Tractors."

It does not mention the "G", however. It is my remembrance that the "G" had a wider frame than the "A", but that is only an old guy's poor memory speaking.

Back in those days a lot of pickers were made to be adapted for use on other brand tractors. I'm sure they required special mounting kits for other brands, and those kits would be hard to come by these days, I would think. Might be the same for the 227 and the "G".

Dad had a 227 Picker on a "3010" tractor, so it's fairly obvious that they were adaptable to a wide variety of tractors. A brochure from May of 1962 states that the 227 will fit "John Deere "2010", "3010", "4010"; also many previous models of other makes".

Hi Loren, If you have a late G with the small PTO shaft, I don't know why it wouldn't work. They were used on 70's, 720's, and 730's.
