A 2-14 JD plow. It has one problem, besides being a deere. The left wheel falls off. The plow is a rope trip and that is the wheel that rides on the top of the ground(not in a furrow) and digs in to trip. The plow is steel wheeled. Any idea on things to look for. The plow is 150 miles away which kind of complicates things. My great-grandad curved the points down so it would stay in the ground. COuld this have anything to do with it? Does anyone know where to buy a new twisted clevus for it?

you're in luck most people can only wish they had the plow you've got. the land wheel should have cleats for traction. the clevis you're looking for is a jd part with a loop if you don't have a loop drawbar. can't tell you the part number off hand. without a better description i can't tell what other problems your describing.. part books should still be available from deere or e-mail me and we'll try to help you.

I have a No.4B which is probably the same or similar to yours. Both wheels are held on by a single pin and collar. The pin is just a solid steel pin and the collar is graduated so it can be turned to adjust side play of the wheel. The hub cap has to be turned off to reveal these parts. Personally I like both colors, red or green. I also own a 2-14 No.8 IHC Little Genius. Good Luck.

The clevis should be available at any store that has a selection of rope, chain and cable. To keep the wheel on, there should be an outfit like a castle collar and a cotter pin that holds the wheel. Trade it for a No. 8 IHC. Tom

Any one who wants to trade a John Deere for an IH should see a DR.

I am curious as to what a castle colar is. there is a peice that looks like a bowl that connects to what looks kinda like a disk brake. there is now shaft between, and I think they may need to be welded together or something? I would trade it for IH, but it was my grandads and I want it for estetic reasons..
