We just got this little 36 B started this morning and she doesn't seem to be getting very much oil out the line that goes to the valve cover. We have the line off and there is nothing blocking the opening going in to the governor housing.. We are getting a very, very small amount of oil.. I know that is doesn't get a large volume but, I think it should be more than what it is getting. We are not a 100% sure it is getting enough oil pressure, as we have not put in the new gage, but the old gage does come put but still on the low side, have tried turning the pressure up a little, but the not sure the gage is good.. (Will have a new gage in soon.) Is the oil to the valve train, from this pressure or is it just kind of a slung into a small res. in the governor housing.. Any ideas...

Hi JDG, the only oil to the rockers is what is slung from the governer gears. It just drips into the tin tray that is rivited to the valve cover, and than through the holes to the rockers. It won't seem like much, but mine have run that way for years. I too have questioned the amount of oil that is supplied there! You got a big one here JDG!! Don't let it get away from you with all that power!!! Good luck, Don

My 830 for what its worth has pressurized oil to the rockers and lots of it. It squirts up to the radiator (13 or so inches) with the valve cover off.

On the unstyled B. the oil is just slung into a little trough and then runs down the tube and on to the rockers.. I'm just not sure if it is getting enough.. but at idle.. I've heard they don't gett much..
