On a JD MI, what company built the side mowers for JD or did JD make their own? I have found a MI with a mower attached that looks original but has a nameplate with "Detriot ....." on it. What have I found? Has anyone seen such a critter sell before or have an idea of value?

The mower on you MI is a Detroit Harvester. John Deere calls it a MI-7. It's a hiway mower, It will mow in any sickle bar position, it"s great for mowing ditches and banks. I've also seen D.H.
mowers on fords and fergusons. I think a division of ford or ferguson actually made this mower. The 40's used a later version of this mower and I believe it's a model 47. I think it might be made by deere. I've also seen them on 320's. If you look on the mount where the aluminum plate is, there is a number stamped in the steel, thats the serial number. A majority of the MI's came equiped with these mowers. There is only 1033 of these tractors made. GOOD FIND!! Bob
