Bought an owners manual for my 47 GW and it seems to show two batteries and refers to "batteries". I thought the GW had one 6 volt battery. Did they have two? If so, how are they hooked up? Wouldn't that make a 12 volt? It seems to start and charge fine on the one 6 volt in it now. Appreciate any information on this.

Hi,
To my knowledge the G was 12 volt, check your alum. tag on the starter. 2 6v's hooked in series
pos of the one to ground neg to the other batteries pos, then the remaining neg goes to your starter.Back then the battery technology was that 2 6's made more amps than one 12. A good 800-1100 amp 12 will work better today.Less term cleaning
too.

Al

Thanks for the reply. Man, you shouldn't assume anything! When I got the tractor the battery was missing and I just assumed it was 6 volt. It is 12 volt and sure spins over better with a 12 volt battery.
