I rebuilt a float ride seat for a 530 JD.I aquired a new battery box for a 530 and went with another seat assembly that I bought from a friend.I put the new torsion springs in it,new bushings, all parts cleaned and painted seperatly.Took me two weeks to thoroughly try to do it right.I was attempting to bolt the float ride to the battery box and the new rebuilt floatride is too big for the 530 battery box,&%$#@!I NOW realize that there are two different sizes of float ride. Will a bigger battery box work on the 530?I am taking it the 730 and the 530 battery boxes are different? If the bigger battery box will work ok would you do it?

I bought all of the goodies for rebuilding my float ride seat for my 820 and was considering saying heck with it and hunt down a regular non-floating seat. The tractor is just for pulling and sounds like it might not be worth the trouble. Especially after having read this stuff!!

A note about seat rebuilding. I lay them upside down on a nice flat top bench. I also use an air hammer to knock out the old pins. I use a C-clamp to squeeze the new pins back into place. And for twisting those rubber spring flanges into position a VERY LARGE pair of channel locks seems to do the trick.

Some things get better and better every time you do it. Float ride seats do not follow this rule. I have to say that the last float ride I rebuilt was just as bad as the first.. I always felt like I needed five monkeys when putting them back together. Murphy"s law seems to be especially pertinent when float rides are in the equation

I just did one for my 720 pony start a few months ago, and was reminded why I waited so long to do it. LOL

List it on eBay! Rebuilt float rides bring pretty prices.

That seat frame may of came from an electric start diesel tractor. I believe they are alot bigger. I would not want a bigger battery box on the 530 for 2 reasons that come to mind are it will devaluate it as collectors are paying more and more detail to "correct" and the other reason is my 720 D has that big box and it is a PIA as it takes up much needed romm on the platform. Might just try to sell it as a rebuilt unit and then get the proper sized one and go ahead and fix another as now you have much more invaluable experience. Or ??? go buy a 720,730,830 to fit that seat frame ???
