I need some help with my 41 B hand start, it sat over the winter and it has no spark, points dont look burnt and rotor looks good also. Where do I start to check out a mag and what do I look for? It always works well in the past.

Got it running, cleaned the points, and all the terminals and it fired up. Thanks

First of all is the mag snapping as you rotate the flywheel??? Thats the sound when the spring winds up n then she trips..... ....If the impulse spring never winds up n trips she will never fire at cranking speeds although it may be able to start n run fine if pull started. If she is snapping then clean the points n check their gap as Mike n Old advises cuz a film of oxide coating can stop a mag from firing. If she isnt snapping the engage dogs may just be stuck/corroded (from siting and moisture) and never extend outwards to wind the spring which a good clean up n light lube may cure the problem

As Mike says. Common for that to happen if they sit that long. Clean or replace the points and you will probably be back up and running

Run a clean white piece of paper through the points to clean them, you may even have to use some 600 grit if they are scumed over. A good chance you will be back in business.
