My wife wants me to paint one of our old styled A’s pink for her to ride at shows and parades. Is there an official John Deere pink color (she says it’s the color of the John Deere pink T-shirts they sell)?

Also we are trying to decide whether to paint everything pink or pink tractor with white rims or maybe even pink tractor with black rims. The seat, steering wheel, lights, and several other parts will be black.

Any suggestions on the color scheme?

This is all assuming I can get it running and teach her to drive it.

if your wife likes being around tractors and lets you do things without nagging you better paint it and smile. t-shirt pink and white rims look good.

i've seen one painted red just for the fun of it. if your wife has been good to you and let you enjoy your hobby i think the least you can do is paint it pink for her. there is plenty of tractors like this that will keep the green and yellow tradition alive and one painted pink isn't going to make any difference. now if you were going to paint a rare tractor pink i would beg to disagree, but what the heck do it for her. i think you probably stated it fairly clearly to start with "if i can get it to running" i wish you luck on doing that. i don't know if i'd have the heart to start on something that rough, but the sheet metal doesn't loook to bad really. i always felt i could fix anything but sheet metal, but if you can do that or have it done its you'lls tractor so go for it and ger-er-done.

I say paint it. If your wife is that easy going on time and money, what the hey!! I would gladly paint a tractor pink if my wife would have more interest in the tractors. Who cares what anyone else has to say, I am sure you would get more positive comments than negative. The picture that Frank posted looks pretty nice with the 2 tone paint. I think its great when the ladies get into the tractors, the other day my wife and I pulled 7 tractors from my moms house to mine, I had her steering, she had a blast, now she wants me to teach her how to drive one, hopefully she will take to the tractors like my kids have. My daughter is 4 and she has a pink JD wardrobe, she loves it and she loves tractors!! My son is 2 and gets mad when he hears a tractor and he isn't on it with me. Have fun with whatever you choose to do!

This one was posted on the parts and pieces directory. Sort of a nice two-tone approach.

alabamafrog -- send me an email and I will return with a couple pictures of a color scheme for a pink tractor.

I am [pat(at)jdhpubs.com], or simply "pat@jdhpubs.com" whichever format comes though to you.

On one of the "RFD" shows they had a lady driving a pink John Deere with white wheels and it looked real good. It looks like you have plenty of time to decide what color it will be.

She is afraid that the yellow and pink will not "go together".

She’s tolerating me restoring all 4 of the old tractors (MT,A,A,60) without a single complaint about the money or the time I’m spending on it and she agreed to go to shows and stuff with me and all she asked for was for me to make one of them pink for her, I figure that’s the least I could do for a good women like her. I wasn’t planning to restore that A anyway, it was originally bought in the 1960’s as a parts tractor for the other A and never was really used very much by us. So I figured if she wanted a pink one then that gave me an excuse to fix it too instead of messing up one of the others. I figure better fixed up and pink then rotting away.

Looks like you have a loooong way to go before choosing a color. Remember how women tend to change their mind???? Don't buy the paint just yet!

let her make a set of pink pjs for the tractor to put on for parades. She could wear pink clothing, maybee pjs also while in the parade. I cant see all that work required to paint a tractor to defile a tractor.

Tell her if she wants a pink vehicle to become an Avon lady, then she can get a pink caddy. Or find a faded Farmall to drive, leave the John Deeres green
