Ive got a JD 1010 and the gear shifter was loose and could be removed by just picking straight up. So my local JD dealer ordered me a bushing, pin for the shifter, snap ring, grease boot, and a spring to fix the problem. Now i"ve figured out where everything goes except the spring. It"s about 4" long and for the life of me I can"t figure out where this thing connects at. The diagram doesnt show where It connects. Maybe i"m having one of those dumb moments but I need help.
Thanks

I have a shop manual for the 1010. If you like I can send you a fax of the section on the shifter. It shows a spring and may help.

I'll go look in the morning to make certain how its connected. It is connected inside the upper bell shaped dome to keep the shift handle in neutral. I think it crowds the shift handle to the left side but I'm not sure about that either.

Well I see a slot on the right hand side of the housing. I'm thinking is goes from there to the hole hole next to the mounting bolt. I'll try that when I get off work today.
Thanks for you help.
