Hello,

i've got a problem with my 2840 - once i've run it a while, sometimes it doesn't come out of first range. Today for example, i mowed the weeds down on 5 acres round an old cattle lot, and needed to back into a tight spot, and it wouldn't come out of 1st range. tried going forward, rocking it, shifting hi/lo, whilst in (1/2/3) gear, not in gear, engine stopped, engine running.
Left it sitting for 15 mins, and then it came right out of 1st range.

I'd had this problem before (actually then it was stuck in reverse) - not long after i got it last year. It turned out that the "bracket" (AT26650) had the pivot-pin break of - the shift rails weren't shifting - so the range shifting problem caused this, and wasn't the problem itself. We figured the (bracket) breaking might have been just general wear/tear, and also maybe it was getting difficult to take out of gear - the range gearshift lever is new - and the previous owner wasn't too gentle.

So basically, it's hard to get out of first range! does anyone have any ideas?

thanks,

(at the risk of replying to myself)

i probably should have added:

it only seems to do this when warm - feeding Hay over the winter didn't cause a problem.
