2240 Fan blade now hitting fan shroud.....

I have a JD2240 that I bought last winter and have been using since then. Started to disk some ground today and there was a "new" clicking noise coming form the engine area. After a bit I discovered that the fan blades were now hitting the fan shroud to the point that the fan would stop against the shroud.

Pulled the JD in the barn and pulled off the hood. I can't tell if there is one lone nut or bolt (hard to get a good look) that holds on the blades but there is about a 1/4" - 1/2" of wobble now in the blades.

I'll have to pull more things off to get a better look...but could it just be a lose nut or bolt or has something happened to the water pump?

Thanks,

Rick

I would suspect the water pump is in need of a rebuild but...I would first check that the shroud hasn't loosened up and moved toward the fan. Check the cheap stuff first!

Take your waterpump off and take it to your Deere dealer and have them rebuild it..Someone that knows whats going on can rebuild it in less than an hour plus bearing , seal ,impeller [ if needed], gaskets...

MOST LIKELY, the waterpump bearing is "out".
