41B cast wheel question

I'm restoring a 41 B, tractor is done, now I'm to the wheels. Here's the problem. The collars are stuck to the hubs, and when I try to press them off with the bolts, it looks as though 1 or 2 of the three hub sections that clamp down on the axles are broken from the cast center. These are 1 piece cast centers, ie the hub and center are one. I have seen some wheel hubs for a B on eBay that are for the pressed steel wheels. Can I break the 3 hub sections off the rest of the way and drill holes to make those work? Or what else would you all suggest? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

These cast hubs are NOT SOLID with the cast wheel itself.. They are held in the casting with 6 BOLTS.

The pressed steel wheel HUB B1678R WILL NOT FIT in your cast wheel..

You will need the B2188R HUB specifically for the cast wheel..

These are a DIME A DOZEN, you will find them at ANY salvage yard.. try 2 cyl plus salvage in MO at 417-589-2634.. tell them you want the cast hubs for the cast wheel on your B (B2188R)

OOh Rob, you may be wrong on that...the earlier styled models often had the cast wheels with a "solid" hub, that is the center part with the 3 slotted hub mounts is not another piece but rather cast solid with the rest of the whole wheel center. In some areas these earlier centers are hard to find and are often replaced with the later used 2 piece wheel center you refer to with the 6 bolts holding the wheel center assembly together.

OHH, I got it now. in reply to RobMD, 04-25-2008 19:35:30
SO the 3 wedge tabs are a part of the cast center itself as if there is no removable hub??

You must have the earlier AB838R one-piece castings which were discontinued in favor of the replacable B2188R hubs and the AA3816R centers.

You will need to get the WHOLE newer centers and Hubs available, once again, a dime a dozen, from the people I mentioned above.

Good luck.

Rob, I cannot say for sure about the wheels on a B, but I have a set of wheels just like Jon described on a '41 A, and the parts book doesn't show that particular wheel center, just as the B book doesn't show it either. One wheel had 2 of the three "tabs" broken just like Jon's had. Mike

I have a 43A that was on tip toe steel (cut off :-(, and it douse not have removable hubs. I think I remember seeing, that was changed early 44 for the A, Mid 44 for the B IF I remember right. Big if.

I have cast centers with cast hubs as one piece on my 43B. They were that way to like mid 44 if I remember right. You are wrong about, not being one piece.

He will need new centers for the separate cast hubs. But you are right about that, they are a dime a dozen.
