I'll give this a shot. Straight from the Manual. Always keep oil in transmission case 6-1/2 inches deep (7 gallons) at large sprockets. Tractors equipped with 35 tooth sprockets keep oil seven inches deep (8 gallons) at the large sprockets. Tractors with 28 tooth sprockets keep oil eight inches deep (10 gallons) at the large sprockets. The manual I have doesn't say, but I'm guessing you can measure the depth of the oil with a stick down through the fill plug opening. Use SAE 140 weight at 32 degrees F. and up, SAE 90 weight below 32 degrees F. This is out of an old original manual dated 1-45. Since you have an earlier model (unstyled) instructions may be different. Not sure. You really need to get a manual.
