I just picked up my overhaul kit today from the dealer and I noticed it did not have new main bolts. It had new rod bolts, but I thought JD recommends new main bolts also. I thought they were included in the kit. I wanted to get this motor back up this weekend, but how important is it to use new main bolts. I don't want to screw this up just trying to get it done. Especially after the investment. Thanks for any advise.

If you have the earlier 4020 I would also recommend to have seats installed in the head. I used to do some for the deere dealer. He said it improved starting. Also double check your liner protrusion.

Deere also recommends dipping in oil when you install them. Also remember to use dish soap on the o-rings for the sleeves. Happy overhauling.

Main bolts do not need to be replaced with new.
