maybe you guys need a good laugh today. two weeks ago i tore my 48 b down and put seals and felts in the rear housing to stop the oil from leaking out the ends of the axle housing. replaced a bunch of stuff in the hydraulic drive pump (everything but the gears), new gaskets and seals every where, two on the pto shaft, actually put two seals on each side in behind the bull gears too, got all the wheels back on and been painting on it for several days, no hurry. well, have to set up at a show tomorrow and so fired it up today and the lift wouldn't work. removed the power trol and cranked the tractor expecting to see oil gushing, but nothing. removed the hydraulic pump and got to looking things over and the key that drives the gear on the pto shaft was lying in the space between the two pto shaft seals. ok, we finally get that back in ater a lot of pushing and shoving, but the pto shaft will not go in far enough. off comes the rear cultivators, the lift arms for them, drain the rear end and remove the main rear housing. another guy helping me came in and with alot of pushing he got the pto shaft to go in place. he held it in tight while we got the housing on with a couple of bolts. all back together and all the oil in and when i tried the lever to make it lift the cultivator i pushed the rod forward and watched the two boys who had been helping me. of course it didn't raise so they started cussing and walking off, i said opps, wrong way and the cultivator jumped right up. wife wasn't none to happy with me having to redo things and what it cost. she doesn't pay a dime on stuff, but most of you guys know how women are. i went in and told her what happened looking for a little sympath and all i got was bit----- on. now it will probably rain the show out this week end to realy make my week. hope you'lls day was better.

Is your show in White Springs? I plan to be there. I'll watch for your 48 B.

no, sorry my show is in huntsville al. there is a museum on the moutain that has a lot of old log cabins that have been restored, corn cribs, barns, houses. each spring they dress in period clothes and have sheep shearing and i think they hope to have a black smith this year. first year our tractor club has been invited. we have 200+ members but on a few real active ones and we'll probably have 30 tractors there, but the show will be the steam engines and the hit and miss guys with the corn grinders.

I hear that a lot.

I also do similar things too... oh well, I guess that makes life more interesting.
