Hi all, My Dad has a 1941 John Deere B, serial # 96168. We got it about a year ago and I've been doing most of the work on it. The engine was stuck very hard and was pretty tough to loosen up. I just got it loose today, I got the pistons out and the flywheel still would not budge. I removed the flywheel and checked out the main bearing, it was dry and rusted making it so the flywheel would not turn. I removed the bearing and cleaned it up, it looks like it can still be used, so I oiled it up and reinstalled it on the B and now it turns over nicely! I hope to get it running sometime this spring. I really enjoy fixing up this B and all our other tractors with my Dad. I'm more of a Farmall boy, but I like the 2 Cylinder JD's too. I'll post on here when we get the B running. It needs new piston rings, engine gaskets, a few magneto parts, rear tires and maybe a few misc parts. I'm glad it finally came loose, I've been trying to get it loose for a long time! Thanks, Andy Motteberg.
