I have a Model FB JD-Van Brunt drill w/16" tires, however I don't have a owners manual and the settings chart has disintegrated from under the lid. I'm wondering if anybody out there has the settings in their book that could be scanned and e-mailed to me at [email protected]. Or give me an idea for a setting for annual rye grass at 25lbs ac for one field, and for another field, alfalfa at 2 lbs ac, and grass mix at 7.5lbs ac. Thanks

Fertilizer, grass seed and seed rates are all printed in the operators manual. Have one on CD here but can only print, not e-mail the info.

You need to get a copy of the owners manual you can find one cheap on ebay thats original to the drill that incorporates the parts catalog and set up instructions.

Also if you register for JDparts.com they finally put up the parts catalog in .PDF format and I downloaded it for free - and I can print whatever page I wanted whenever saving me 30 bucks.

Before I forget you can also order replacement charts for your drill from John Deere...I think they"re reasonable (or were at the time) still.

Good luck,

I"m still trying to fix mine up to where I can seed. (I have to change over the Double Disk to Singles and replace all the feed traps)

Oh one more thing. If you haven"t used that drill in a while soak everything with Blaster PB and use a monkey wrench gently to loosen up all the jackshafts.

It"s been a great unit, my farming partner and I bought it at a sale several years back, and has all the fert, grain, and grass boxes on it, and was modified for using hydraulics instead of the levers.
The most commonly used setting for Barley and Oats, we marked with magic marker for quick identification, but the settings sheet was still pretty good shape. His son used a pressure washer/steam cleaner to clean it up after a use last year, and apparently cleaned the chart, too, so we only have a couple settings that we actually know to be accurate. SO I found the JD parts site but haven"t located a seeding list yet. Haven"t been to e-bay yet either, but am about to go there. Was actually hoping to get enough info so I could get it in the dirt in the next day or so while I waited for a book if I could find one.

I tried to find my Ops Manual so I could scan the pages out but its lost somewhere in my apartment.

I got my parts catalog out , the seeding charts are available still from Deere.

Part number N160312 Replaces Part: J1996M

The fertilzer chart is obsolete but see if they can"t do a dealer search for you.

Called the JD dealer with the part # you gave me. He finally did find it, at $32.00. I"m bidding on a FB manual, will know in a couple hours if I got it, and he thought the chart is in it, so I"m going to wait and see before shelling out $32.00. AND I guess I have time to wait, I got the seed bed prepped then it snowed a couple times over the last few days, and looks like more in the forecast, so I can"t get back into the field until it dries a bit. Thanks a bunch, Kevin

I have the same grain drill and Iam trying to find the part numbers for the fertilzer plates that go in the bottom to control output. I need to buy them but none can help me without the part numbers. Does anyone know the part numbers or have any of the plates for sale?

Sorry I"m not near my seed chart right now, but here is a link to a buy-it-now manual on Ebay that could help you down the road. I believe the seed charts are still available from Deere as well. I bought a new one for the grass seed box and the main box two years ago for my model B plain drill.

I fly tonight at midnight, via an eastbound redeye, so I won't get home until tomorrow, maybe 10 AM. If you haven't found the numbers by then, I'll try to look at my seed charts and check back here.

Thanks Frank for your input. I did win and finally got a book from e-bay. It had everything I needed, and actually helped in a few other areas, as well.
Thanks again, Kevin

Thanks Frank,
I'm bidding on a FB manual, will see if I get it in a couple of hours. The field is prepped and since it snowed a couple times the last few days, with more supposed to be coming, it gives me time to probably get the book in the mail, before I can get back in the field anyway. I will let you guys know. Thanks for all of your help. Kevin
