My dad got a tractor which I thought was an industrial 1020 but after looking around I see the 20's industrial were called like 300 301 etc. We got it for 500 dollars and my dad wasnt sure if it was worth it LOL! He is a superintendent at a golf course and bought it from a driving range, the guy said it didnt run or shift and of course after scraping plugs and points and jump starting he DROVE it from there place to ours LOL he is lucky. So this tractor has yellow paint down to the metal and has decals that say 1020 but not sure if they are original. Has front and rear ptos, 3 point, no hyd outlets but has a large hyd pump. So what do we got here, how rare, value, comments, here say, just want to know all about this tractor. There was a number on it that i thought was the serial number and was followed by a t, if you look at it without the t it is the serial for a 1970 jd 2010. My dad is going to use it at our course for a spare tractor but I made him promise to sell it to me if he ever feels the need not own it. Im jealous of his find :)

WTW To my knowledge JD never built an open-center 1020 or 300,all were closed center hydraulics. 820's, 830's and early 2040's were the only new generation open-centers built that I recall. think the tractor in question has manual steering as I don't see the hyd. supply line that feeds power steering.

It looks to be a 300A with straight front axle. If you look at your RH rear heel, theres a dipstick down there for the trans/hyd oil. The serial number tag should be right down there.

Nice find

Alex, I can tell by the photo's that it is an ag tractor painted yellow (most likely from the factory). Most likely a 1020 because of the 3 cylinder gas engine, open center hydraulics as I can tell by the type of steering valve and hydraulic lines it is equipped with. Ag because it has row crop adjustable front axle. Looks like it has front continues PTO as I can see the shift lever on the side. It is not a independent PTO because lack of independent control lever between shift levers. Check your serial number tag right side of transmission case near hitch control lever. looks like you gat a steal on this one! DW

Alex, Thought it could be a 300 which was an indutrial version of a smaller 1020 or 2020, but they came as I remember with a reverser and had fixed front axle. It's probably a 1020 that was special order for landscape work like on a golf course. Nice find, not to many around I'd bet. John

Alex First off there's no such JD tractor as a '70 model 2010 as '63 was last year built. I think from picture it has 3 spark plug wires so it would be a 1020. If I remember correctly from my days at JD dealership there were some yellow 1020's sold new. The SN under seat on RH side of trans. housing should explain model.

looks like a 2020 or 2030 to me. Where is the exhaust, is it underslung? Look under the hood around the fuel tank and in some unusual places for JD green under the yellow to see if it was originally green or in fact yellow.

The exhaust is the big rusty guy in the middle of the picture lol. I dont think it is original. They scraped down to the metal everywhere, battery bracket, under hood, has tank, They only found yellow.
