You need to go to page 85-10 and -11 in the 70D parts manual PC-445, and read it carefully. There were two rebuild kits offered. The first one is AR 13015 R. It is a gasket set only. If you go to JDParts.com, you can check it for price and availability, but you have to drop the trailing "R" off of the part number to get it to query. While every price is dependent on the sponsoring dealer, the price for this gasket kit at my dealer is $14.29 today. The last gasket set I got for a pony from Robert's included the pivot pin for the float and the float needle and seat, but nothing more. So, in this case, if you have a serviceable float needle and seat, and you only need to disassemble for cleaning, and reassemble using your old jets, needles, and spray bar, the Deere kit is pretty competitive.

The price you probably got was for AR 13005 R, which is a pretty major kit. My dealer shows it at $214.50, but that price will be less if I order it and get it on the counter. It might still be overpriced, but it includes all of the hardware including the float valve, seat, pin, Main jet, Compensator jet, the felt shaft seal and retainer, deflecting ring, the big spray bar/idle jet that so often is clogged or broken, and various screws and washers, and all the gaskets included in AR 13015. Again, drop the trailing "R" to query it at JDParts.com.

Not saying that it is bargain, but the two kits have very different contents, so they have very different pricing.

HTH

Frank

Yep the last two I did I was able to get all the seperate pieces right from Deere pretty reasonable. Just got to stay away from the complete kits and go with individual parts and a gasket set. It's always been that way with Deere even on A's and B's carbs.
