Hydraulic problems on MT

I am restoring an 'MT' and am having problems with the hyd. system not working. I have flushed the system with kerosene as owners manual suggests and filled with fresh hyd. fluid.
The left hand control lifts drawbar slowly and will only lift about 200 lbs. The right lift control is dead, does not move rockshaft.

Any ideas on where to begin? Is it a difficult job to rework the hyd system on this tractor?

Help!!!

Oh, boy. I have a standard, one control, M that I've had to make work several times. the best advice I can give you is to get a JD service manual and study the hydraulics sections carefully. The original JD manual has wonderful color diagrams that clearly show the oil passages in every operating mode. This makes it really easy to tell what every valve is doing at any time. you can't really work on these without knowing what things are supposed to do.

It really isn't difficult to work on. The unit is fairly easy to access. There are several spring-loaded valves in there that easily stick with a very small amount of debris. Usually, if the pump pressure is OK, a sticky valve is all that's wrong. You'll have to pull each one apart and clean it off and clean out the passages insode the housing.

My 'M' was a wreck when it was given to me, and the hyd. system had acquired a significant amount of water in it. This led to some rust in places that don't clean well. This rust slowly migrates into the valves and makes them sticky. I have to perform a disassembly and cleaning every couple of years when things stop working right. I figure that I'll be doing this until I die (I've been doing it for 10 years now)..... ..

Rockshaft won't move without weight on it to go down the system is only power up.Might check the hose where it hooks to the steel line in case it is collapased, but sounds like a problem in the system under the seat,I've never had to work on ours.
