Came across a live PTO attachment for John Deere A B and G tractors. This is a factory attachment for John Deere made by the Innes Company. Tag on it even says "Manufactured for John Deere A B Tractors.

Any one else ever seen one of these? I"m guessing they are pretty rare.

I"m trying to find out what size pulley should be on the flywheel to run it.

Anderson,
That likely would have been the Innes Company in Bettendorf, IA. They built the "Constant Power" continuous power take off attachment for A, B, and G tractors. It was a large unit on the flywheel side at the rear.

The first info I have seen was in a Farm Implement News ad December 4, 1947 where it was listed for the A and B. An Innes price list dated September 15, 1948 has a shipping weight of 244 lbs and a price of $275. While it is not very clear, it would appear the flywheel pulley is about the same size as the driven pulley, or perhaps up to 2" less in diameter than the flywheel, and a bit offset - it appears to attach with two bolts to the flywheel. The pix is of a unit on a ~1946 B. I covered this do-dad in my 2006 GOG Workshop on Aftermarket Equipment, and no one said they had seen one, so they must be a bit rare.

Innes also built a large line of combine pickup units.

Never even heard of one of those. That's quite a find. Can you take some more pics and tell us how it works?
