Have our starter and Gen at a shop getting checked over while the engine is down. The 720 SM dosn"t talk about the starter. Just want to make sure I tell them correctly. The Generator is a 6 volt neg. ground, and starter 24 volt neg. ground right? Thanks Joe

If a Pony its wired at Pos ground and has a 6 volt starter and generator n battery, of course. If its an electric start its a 24 volt 2 wire NON grounded genny and a 24 volt 2 wire NON grounded starter motor and has two 12 volt (or four 6 volt) batteries wired in series to get the 24 volts.

If you have an electric start diesel tractor it is positive ground as are all two-cylinder John Deere tractors. Starting and charging is 24 volt. The only "split" part are the lights, fuel gauge, and rear implement outlet. Even the generator light is on a 24 volt circuit with a resistor in the circuit to protect the 12 volt bulb from 24 volts.

If your 720 is electic start it will have 24v.starter & 24v. gen. (what they call split 12v.) If it's pony motor start it's all 6v.
