I'm going to look at a 237 picker. Anything in particular I should know? How well do they work? I've always had a New Idea picker but I would like a mounted picker for on my 60. Opinions? Or would I be better served with a New Idea mounted picker? Thanks.

The 237 will work on the 60 but it will be a load, both power-wise and weight-wise. If you already have a New Idea, do you just need the axle mounts for it? There are a few New Idea pickers around yet so you should be able to find one with JD 2-cylinder mounts. Or check with Dee Implement in Waukon, Ia. - they still have quite a few mounts around for different tractors. Personally, I think the New Idea is easier to mount than the John Deere, especially if you want to take it off every season.

I will probably banned from this forum. You will never beat a New Idea picker. I have sold to many over the years. They cannot be beat.

I have a 237 that I use on a 50. It has enough power, but it works it hard sometimes. My picker works good, but some corn just husks better than others. I take mine off at the end of season. As I like that old tractor for corn plantig and square baling. After several mounts & dismounts, it gets easier. Mark the mounting holes.

that should work perfect with your 60. i have a 60 that my grandpa had a mounted picker on and he loved picking corn with that! but i suggest not puting it on and taking it off every fall. they are a pain the the butt, but once you get good at it it's not too bad. just be sure to keep everything well greased.

I have read that a 237 was geared more for the 30 series and later. I think those bad boys were heavy. The 226 or 227 was more in your ball park with the 60, but that is going off of memory. Hopefully someone else will chime in. If you have access read Sept/Oct 2007 issue of Two Cylinder. They have a whole right up on Corn Pickers and Snappers. Good luck.
