I am replaceing the clutch driver and the slideing clutch disk on my 1954 JD 60. I never had one of these apart so my question is there anything behind the pulley i need to clean and lube before putting on the new parts. I pulled the pulley back a little and seen what looked like roller bearings and some kind of arms that pivot. Also is there anything special I need to do when pulling off the pulley and slideing the pulley back on. Also I am installing the flywheel back on the tractor my other question is should I tighten the two bolts that hold the flywheel tight against the crankshaft first or the locknut that keeps the flywheel on the crankshaft, Sorry I am so long winded I just want to make shure I do this all right. Thanks

The locknut sets your required crankshaft end play of around ten thou. THEN you tighten the two clamp bolts, and TIGHT. TORQUED TIGHT.

What ET said plus make sure the three springs that are between the pulley & the outer disk are good. They get weak from rust & can make it disengage poorly as in "wants to keep going".

WhenI redo a clutch I repack the roller bearing with high tempature grease, clean and never-seeze the contact area of the three operating bolts, remove and clean the toggles, I put a dab of high temp. grease in all the toggle pockets as well as the pockets on the operating sleeve and never-seeze the three pivot pins that hold toggles. Make sure the guide pin and hole it runs in on the operating sleeve are not worn.
