730 Diesel sediment bowl needed

I need the glass sediment bowl under the gas tank for the cranking engine on a 730 diesel tractor. The sediment bowl assembly is a Tillotson, with the dimensions of the bowl being 1.5 inches in diameter and 1.125 inches high. I would appreciate any information as to a source, new or used. (Yes, I have checked with the John Deere dealer and you would be stunned at the price.)

I put one for a briggs on my 730. Also has a shut off valve so I can shut off the fuel. I don't trust the old shut off valve. I don't think it was that much 10-15 at the small engine shop.

Is this one the same? I'd check with Jack's Small Engine or similar type of site on the web. I know the Deere unit is expensive, but I really think that there might be a problem with their pricing in the way of a mistake. They show the complete unit as costing less (but not by much) than just the bowl and gasket. I know it would be impossible to convince them it's a mistake, but I think that's what happened. It's more than double what the sediment bowl assembly for the diesel costs.....

Thanks for all the quick responses. Once again, my need has been met! I would prefer to just buy the glass bowl so I can keep the assembly original. Maark, I tried to send you an email but I got a message that it was not available. I would really appreciate a response from you stating how I can get a bowl.

I'll agree about the price!

I work for the company and usually take the side that they do have lots of old service parts to supply, but $120.00 is a little steep.

I looked it up... It cost the dealer $90.00 and it cost JD PDC $43.93 ... I'm thinking they didnt get much of a deal!! They have 34 left in inventory. I'm guessing they will keep all 34 until they dont sell any for a few years then they will be destroyed. A good system huh?

Greg Stephan once told me he watches some of those prices and when they take a really big jump up that is a good indicator they are getting ready to scrap them and make them NLA. Deere then gets a tax right off of the HIGHER amount.

Go to marketplace on the left column, under tractor parts, check out the fuel bowls for a C Allis Chalmers. I might have the smaller ones that were used on the Briggs and Stratton engines.

Try a small engine shop as some of the old Briggs used a small bowl on them.
