Eight to twelve thousand is the going rate. You hardly ever see a diesel for less, but rarely you do see one for more. I have no personal experience owning a powershift. My father in law owned a 67, and he had alot of trouble with it. Ofcourse I couldn't even imagine the abuse it was put through. If the trasmission is good try to get it for 9000 or less, because once you start using it you will be spending some money on. But like everyone says parts arn't bad, and with a service manual, and a good tool set you can realy do alot. They are my favorite tractors. Come to think of it, I think I'll go home this eveing and fire mine up, and give my little boy a ride, or drag a log or two. Later, Greg H.

A son-in-law of deceased neighbor farmer has a excellant condition 4020 WFE manual shift with 18000 hours on the engine. I believe they are asking around $9000. In central California, they will probably sell it close to $9000. Regarding the discussion of IH vs. JD, I bleed old IH 1566 and 856 red, but I buy new John Deeres. Both were and still are excellant tractors. The 4020 will hold it`s value long after everything else.

Larry, twopop is right on the money. You can't go wrong for a good 4020. Parts availability is good and will continue to be so for many many years to come. Where else can you find an older tractor with good meaty horsepower, dependability, performance, and design for under 12000. You get what you pay for! Good Luck!

Brad Creeddy...
While I dont pretend to bleed green when cut and am a confessed fan of some of those other color tractors theres no reason to be trying to stir the pot. Thats not what we are here for and probably why different makes have different pages to cut down on all the "bench farming". Comments like yours might be more at home on the general "tractor talk" forum.

comprende amigo?
