I have a John Deere two bottom, steel wheeled plow labeled "John Deere 583." Does anyone have any information about this model?

The plow has two levers. It doesn't have a trailing wheel, and the hitch is bolted in a way that it points straight in the air. Coming off of the same bar that the hitch does, is a flat steel piece that angles off to the right, sort of toward the right side of the draw bar or the right rear tire of the tractor.

Bob is correct. It would be a 4B plow made from '35-'49. It has 2-14" bottoms , furrow wheel is steel 26" and land wheel is steel with cleats and 32". It should have a steel tail wheel with a mud scraper. Yours , like many ,may have had many alterations and things wore out and left to fall off in it's life. There are still many sources of parts for restoring yours out there.

Kyle,583 is the beam number of the # 4 series plow. I would guess a model 4B plow.Is the other beam a #584 ? Earl In Illinois

Earl is right but it is more likely the other beam is 623, it replaced the 584 beam which was used on the 4A plow. The 4A plow used a lever and a crank for adjusting while the later 4B ,4C and 4D plows use 2 levers. Bob
