Hello... I am in need of a K181S 8HP engine for a 1966 John Deere 110 lawnmower. We got the ole John Deere from my grandfather, who believe it or not was a mechanic for John Deere, but due to his age (almost 91) though, he's not able to work on things anymore. My boyfriend has the mower at his house and almost had it running, then noticed a crack in the block.... so now the fun starts with finding another engine. He'd like one that he can just sit right in the place of the old engine. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a Kohler engine (new .020" piston and rod as I recall) and a rebuilt starter/generator. It came from a John Deere 110, but I don't know the year. I received it 6 years ago after my father passed away. It has a k141 tag number on it, at the time there were several shrouds and I had a Kohler k181, (since sold with the tractor) so I pulled the head and checked for differences, found none, putting it back together and made sure that it ran then. Should have put one of those other shrouds on it, but didn't seem important at the time.

If you have an interest in it, I could check dimensions, take a picture, etc.

I am in Central West Virginia.

Thanks, for your response. If you could, please send the dimensions and some pictures of the engine you have. We've searched and searched. Some of the engines, the belts wouldn't line up right. And my boyfriend is looking for an "easy" fix, where he could just sit the engine in the tractor he has. That crack is right on the side. Looks like the rod was shot through it.

A good place to look may be at your local small engine dealer. They may have a good used one around. Another good place to ask would be WeekendFreedomMachines.com. Lots of helpful guys over there that may lead you in the right direction. Good luck with your search, Jason.
