I still havent found some good pictures of the gas 4230s, however i was taking to my father about them and he said that there were 31 made, they are the biggest gas John Deere made, and they are the last gas burning Deere tractor built. His 4230 gas Deere is the last 4230 gas made. If i remember right there were rated at 90 hp, and are very thirsty!

Hi - NOT my field, but will plow a little - this from my "Big Book" since there seems to be a lot of interest. "The 80 hp 4030, 100 hp 4230, 125 hp 4430, and 150 hp 4630 were offered only with diesel engines in Europe. In the U.S., the two smaller were still available for gas, and their diesel engines were naturally aspirated. All 4 models had 6-cyl engines, a hydraulically controlled perma-clutch, and the old faithful Synchro-range 8-speed trans. On the first 3, a new quad-range was optional, and on the larger 3, power-shift was a further option. In the U.S., the diesel 4030 had a 329- ci engine, while in Europe the 404 ci 4020 engine was fitted. Other models available were an open-station low-profile version sold chiefly in Central and South American markets, and a Hi-crop in both 4230 and 4430 size"
Hope you 4230 fans find this of some interest. RonMC
