Put in new rings and had the heads worked on in July. Noticed a little wear in the bushing on the crank on the flywheel side. Could not get one from Deere. Had a machine shop machine one. Seamed to fit good. Lasted maybe 30 starts and it was completely gone. Did Deere use special brass in that bushing or do I have other problems. The pony started and ran good, started diesel good about 20 times then gradually got worst. Thank you for any advice

I had to do the CE on my 820 and used new "work of art" Earl Seamens Rods in .020 us and some large wrist pin bushings for mains machined to fit the cleanup on the crank. I wish I would have known about Murphys for the main bushings tho.

Did the bushing fit the crank good before or after it was pressed into the main housing.

Murphys Motor Service has undersized main bushings for pony engines. 573-696-3655

Bushing fit crank good after it was pressed into housing. I have pulled the crank out and am thinking about having it checked to see if it is bent and having it reground if I can find a way to put rod bearings in the rods and bearings in the mains. Would Murphys have such bearings. Thanks for the reply.

If your rod journals clean up at just a few thousandths ? then you can always take some off the caps and rebore your rods. Or there are now sources for NEW repro rods. I think I saw them on ebay ?

They dont have bearings, but they do have undersize connecting rods in addition to the undersize main bushings. So you can grind your crank .010/.010 or .020/.020, put new rods and bushings in and you should be good to go.
