Someone stole my 1970 JD Model 110 Garden Tractor this week (Wednesday night I think). It had the snow blade and a Model 10 utility trailer attached. There's evidence where it was pushed across my yard and possibly loaded onto a utility trailer in my gravel driveway next to the main road. I'm so mad I could realy hurt someone. I've had that little work horse for a very long time and it will be missed. Even the Grandkids cried when they heard the news. It was their favorite ride. Anyone else ever felt the anger that builds up when a stinking thief takes your stuff?

Kenny, I'm sorry to hear of the theft. We have had a BUNCH of thefts around here lately, but most are due to the loser scrap thieves who steal wiring, pipes, old machinery, etc for the quick meth money. The meth problem here in SE KS is very, very bad and most of the robberies around here are fallout effects of meth.

I dont know about your area, but up here scrap prices are very high. it would'nt suprise me if some dirtbag stole it just to scrap it and get a fast $75. within a 5 mile radius of me, there has been 3 or 4 abandon houses/barns that have had their copper plumbing ripped out for scrap, and 1 aluminum silo top taken too. check your local scrap yards.

Steve,

I really don't think the motive was to sell it as scrap, because there were 6 more JD Garden Tractors, plows, disk, blades, plus 4 adult tractors with their implements everywhere. Simply, there was much more iron for scrap which was easier to take and less risky than the 110. It was about 30 feet from the house. They chose the only running 110 and right beside it was a a modern LX172 with a yard/leaf sweeper attached. I believe they knew what they were taking.

What they don't know is that if they really needed a 110, or sincerely wanted one to fix up, I would probably have given them one of the others I have for free, if they had only asked.

Earlier this summer some @#$%^&* stole the battery out of my tractor parked out in the yard, in sight of the house, and near a outside "security" light. Was not happy! Sheriff took a report - probably rolling around in the bottom of the computer, never to see the light of day. Right then, purchasing a new battery wasn't very easy. Things get tough on the farm!

kenny, i live in na myself. i'd drive over to admore to dog days trade days this week end and see if the mower shows up over there. good luck. ask the local police to check at any known drug dealers house for the mower.

People will steal anything that isn't bolted down, alarmed and under surveilance (and even then they try).

I would keep an eye out in the local classifieds, craigslist and ebay. Person probably wants to unload it. Almost might consider putting a want ad up for one, you never know what might happen.

A little side story: A dad's bud from high school had a car that got swept away in a flood. Thankfully he had insurance on it, so he got his .05 on the dollar for it. About a month or two later he was looking through the classifieds for a car and he found one that was very similar to the one he had before. He went to look at it and he thought that it was his. The "owner" told him that he had bought it at an auction a while back. However, he asked the seller to take off the speaker guard from the door and there was mud in there. Long story short he got his car back.

I know your pain had three F725 disappear, the fourth wouldn`t start. The guy that owned them is 84 years old and likes the front deck and power steering and if he likes something he buys all he can find!

Yup... I know exactly what you mean... best thing you can do is contact all of the area dealerships, let them know what has occured, and if they have anyone "new" coming in for parts or info on a 110, get a license plate # in addition to a name if they can. A little good old ground pounding may turn something up when you get the info. Its not likely it will ever be brought in for service, but its entirely possible the thief may look for parts books, service manuals, filters, etc. You never know. If you get lucky enough to locate the thief, DO NOT confront them yourself. Contact the local sheriff's office, police dept, or local State Police Post.

A couple years ago someone stole the wheels and tires off my cousins restored dodge roadrunner.I felt bad because it was parked at my farm shop while he was helping us farm.The next day someone
brought the wheels to a local gas station,only a 1 1/2 miles from where i live to have them put on his car.A neighbor told me about it,but i said,"No one would be that stupid",but someone was.He got his wheels back and the thieves went to court.
