I have the chance to buy a JD 1010S tractor. I have been told that the 1010S was basically a stripped down cheapened up version to compete with the Ford Jubilee and such. I want to know how many 1010S' were actually made. Does anyone here know how to find this out or know where I can go to find this out?

I had a 1010"S" but that was a hi-Crop, that is what I thought the "special" stood for. In my opinion just not a very good tractor at all. If the one you are looking at is a diesel just say no thanks, the 1010 diesel was the worst engine ever made by anyone!

This one is not a high crop, it is a normal utility. I run a tractor salvage yard so I know what the diesel engine is like. This one is a gas engine and is in very good original condition.

I looked at one for sale near sidney ohio the other day.The old man that had it run it out of oil and it locked up.They put a pipe wrench on the crank and got it free.Someones in for a surprise. It was a nice looking tractor though, with original paint.

They made 4938 special row crop utility's-all gas engines.
They made a total run of 44,378 1010's compared to 57,572 4010's so they sold a bunch of them anyway.
