I can't type fast enough to say all I want to say .....

Check clutch freeplay.
Drain the carb bowl to let any water/rust out.
If it's still 6V, be sure you have large diameter battery cables - not Wal-Mart cheapie 12v replacements.
Use Autolite #437 sparkplugs.
NAPA general purpose hydraulic oil in the TOM.

It has had a recent restration, everthing works great. Five speed may be live pto, I don't know how this works.
