Hello,
I run 10 WT oil in my M, MT's and 40's. If oil get's foamy looking it's because you have an leak in the intake(large) line, sucking air into oil. Also, the old books will tell you that the oil rating in 1940/50 is not the same as today. 10wt then is the same as 30wt today.
Hope this helps,and remember,
Have fun with her,
Don

a bunch of the guys in our tractor club told me to use power steering fluid in my M. I have used it for three years now with no problems. A power steering system IS a hydraulic system after all.

Brad the book calls for 10 wt motor oil so I use 10w30 in mine. The wiring diagram can be found at this site.
