After lots and lots of heating and beating I have sucessfully removed one piston. The other one made one pop under the press and moved about a quarter inch and stopped. Is there a way to check and see if the rods are damaged?I had to set the block down with the rods facing up and put a half inch plate steel on the one half rod journal and heated the cylinder the best I could and hit it with the biggest sledge hammer I could find.It moved one and that was all.I was wondering how much a rod could stand before it bent. Thanks for any help.

Pistons must be driven from the top out the bottom. The ring wears a groove, and when the ring gets to this point(going UP) it will wedge.

Jack take a oak 4x4 and a 16 lb. sledge hammer and drive piston out the bottom,I use a piece of Osage Orange wood it's tougher than oak. If you aren't carefull you will bend rod,you need that sudden jar.good luck Gman
