i know this keeps getting asked over and over, but after studying over my shop manual and the parts book, i'm not sure what actually drives the power trol. is it the gears from the pto and is there a seal between the power trol and the rear end that is leaking causing my trany to over fill or is just the seal on the inside end of the pto shaft where it goes into the trany. ok i think the pto drives the hydraulic oil pump for the power trol. is there or is there not seals inside the rear end that needs to be replaced to stop oil from running out of the ends of the rear end housing. i thought thats what i had read here and some guys at a show told me there wasn't so now i'm confused (again). the parts book and shop manual were very vague from what i could tell. thanks for all replys.

If your"s is like mine, you will need to use two seals. Because the old seal is wider than the old ones. I replaced the seal on my JD 70 and it took two seals. Also using an engine hoist to take the back end off is a big help. papafoutz

You should have a few seals to take a look at for possible leaks. One will be on the PTO shaft going into the transmission gear case. The other will be on the piston cylinder base. You will have to remove the powertrol and rear housing to get to this one. While your in there replace all seals and everything else you think needs replacing including your axle seals so as to save yourself from having to go back in later on.
