Did John Deere ever make a steam engine or buy out any of the companies that did?

John deere was late to the tractor market. Althought the company Waterloo did build steam traction engines.

Here is a nice article on one

Uh, that article was about a steam engine built in Ontario, Canada, not Waterloo, Iowa. No connection to John Deere at all.

Uh,he didn't say it was a john deere,he said the company waterloo built steam engines..so i suppose if someone seen one they would probably relate it to john deere.

Uh, I don't think anybody with slightest clue about JD would associate a steam engine named "Waterloo" and built in Canada with John Deere.

Well it's not worth debating my poor english skills. What I meant to say was althought the other waterloo tractor builder did make steamers. I thought Waterloo "Gasoline" Traction Engine Company would explain itself.

However, Waterloo, Ontario isn't the Waterloo in Iowa where Deere has been building tractors.

That was already implied. Most people don"t have a clue about John deere. So If I had a waterloo steamer parked by a Waterloo gas tractor they would think they are related. Especially with the signs say deere been around for ever. Heck there are less and less people every year that even give a toot. People will believe anything. I was a bike shop the other day and one of the honda"s had a big made in usa sticker on it. I asked them what part was made in USA and they said the sticker. You could not find a piece on it that didn"t say made in Japan. yet people still believe what they want with the truth in front of them.
