A guy after Church tonight asked me about the generator on a 64 model 3020 24 v, said his didn't charge, he has replaced the gen and reg on it but is waiting to start it as he redone some wireing on it and says he has 2 hot wires to the gen , without going to the barn and checking mine, is there supposed to be 2 hot wires on the gen ?
if not what is supposed to be hooked up ?
I will head to barn tomorrow and get PC out and also check my wireing .
Terry.....

Yes and no, the frame is not in the 24 volt charging system ,which is 24 volt pos. grd. circuit. The frame is used as a netural for a 12 volt pos. grd. circuit and a 12 volt neg. grd. circuit, so bat. "A" terminal on gen. [blue wire] to frame would be a 12 volt neg.grd. short and would be hot in that sense, the same for bat. "B" terminal [brown wire] to frame, this makes 12 volt pos. grd. short. Thus, both wires are 12 volts hot at gen., if they are grounded to the frame. [Blue wire to brown wire 24 volts.]
