GOING TO RESTORE MY FATHERS R THIS WINTER. WONDERING HOW HARD TO GET TRACTOR WEIGHT DOWN SOME FOR PULLING. ONE BOOK I SEE SAYS WEIGHT IS 7400 LBS. IS THIS ANYWHERE EVEN CLOSE TO THE REAL WEIGHT? OUR WEIGHT CLASSES ARE 7500 ,8500, 10000 LBS . 7500 AND 8500 WOULD BE BETTER FOR AMOUNT OF POWER. ANY HELPFUL HINTS ON GETTING A LITTLE MORE THAN STOCK POWER FOR THE R. WE LIMIT HP TO 33% OVER STOCK AND RPM,S 10% . THANKS FOR ANY HELP.

with hydraulics and pto the R won't go below 7800lbs. That is with 18.4 6 ply tires. 8 ply's go up 16.9 's might go down a bit. with a smooth cover you can get one down to about 7200lbs. a stock r is pretty lame compared to the 80's and 820's or a lot of other 8500 lb tractors.but for low gear pulls may hold up .
with pumps turned up all the way you might get 60 horse out of it.with 730 pistons and tips that # can go up to about 75 which would be about 133% of the factory horsepower rating.makes for a real fun tractor Paul in western sd.
