hello, my 820 has been making excesive tranny noise. First sounded like a whine but now it sounds like somethings loose like a bearing gone. It sounds fine unless it is driving, clutch engaged and in neutral every thing sounds fine but as soon as it goes in any gear it starts clunking and watever else it does. any ideas what could be wrong, common problems? Got a pull tomorrow but I dont think ill be in if i dont figure it out.

The R-830 tractors will have a rear end whine to them if the rear axles have not been tightened in a while. Most of the wheatland tractors out here on the high plains exhibited this whine. A clunking sound is a different matter. If you jack up each side of the rear of the tractor, you can tell how loose the rear axles are. Hope this helps, Ron.
