I have a jd 300 backhoe, I am pretty sure there is air in the fuel line, but I can't seem to get it to bleed out. The tractor will start, run a few seconds and then die. It will start every time. I have checked pressure from lift pump, seems to be fine. I have also cracked the lines at injectors, and turned engine over, to try to bleed air. Due to my lack of experience on diesel engines. I am not sure in I am doing it correctly. I have been told that it is very similar to bleeding brakes. But needless to say i have not had any luck. I am open to suggestions on other possible problems as well.

PLEASE HELP, THANKS,
BRENT

I think he meant the injection pump...the plastic ring starts coming apart...there is a return line that has a check in it and it will stop up..need injector pump rebuilt...

MAY GOD BLESS THE USA

Your return line is plugged. Retainer ring in the fuel pump is going bad.
