148 from a 2955 to a 4020

I am looking at a 148 loader that the owner says will fit a 2955, 2950, 2940. How easily will this mount to my 66 4020? Will it need different mounts, modification, or just bolt right up?

Thanks,

Jon

You need a 148 operator's manual that covers using it with the 2955. My manuals only cover up to 4630 and appear to show only one choice of mounting bracket that bolts to the frame rails with a brace across the front and under the oil pan. The bracket gets shortened at the rear for 3020 and smaller and on some tractors the steps get moved.

I put one from a 2840 onto a 4020. Although Deere had different brackets for the 2 tractors most of the holes lined up and I drilled a couple of more to be safe. I did not use the axle mounting u-bolts because of interference between the loader frame and tractor roll gard. In fact had to notch the loader mounting frame a bit. I would say give it a try, if anything the brackets for the utility tractors are stronger because the tractor frame and castings are weaker.

I'm certain that the mounts will be different as a 4020 has a frame and a 2955 does not. Who knows you might make them work making your 148 an axle mounted loader on a 4020
