what if it's a late 320 where the shifter lever has a bend in it. unlike the 40s shifter?

Easiest thing to do is to replace the shifter quadrant. . . Ive seen them listed on e-bay from time to time selling anywhere from $30-75 plus shipping. I believe the shifter quadrant from a 40 is very similar to a 320 but I dont know for sure. . . dont quote me on that one. By the time you take out the forks, pins, etc and replace them in a new trans cover its easier just to replace the whole unit. (assuming the earlier 40 --much easier to come across-- unit is the same).

But then wouldn't you likely get another one just as worn out or worse ? I'd hate to buy one without seeing it in person.
