I am working on my cousin 51 A.. I need to know if these #s or orginal parts, or if they are over sized....The insert # is A4659R stamped date of 5-61..... The piston # is A3282R, I could not see if the piston was stamped 45 or is it a 90 over. I have our local JD dealer working on this same question.
Thank Ben

I don't have the parts books handy to look, but every JD oversized piston I came accross had the part number stamped on the head along with the oversize. The standard ones had the casting number cast into the inside of the skirt. Bound to be exceptions though ?

It's always best to get a measurement of the inside of the cylinder wall to know where your at and that someone before didn't stick std. pistons in an oversized bore. Anything can and does happen.

Do as Mike says and get someone to measure the block AND crank. Never depend on part numbers. Maybe the block is wore too much to rering & should be rebored. How would you know without measuring.
