I'm working on a 51 A and the hyrdralic oil is leaking into the rear axle-trans housing. We already replaced the PTO shaft an the double set of sealing washers. Is there a better way to seal it?

Did you replace the rockshaft cyl. gasket ? and check the housing for cracks and I think there may even be a tin plug like a freeze plug in there.

Thanks for the help. I think we found the problem. We removed the rear unit and looked at where the oil was coming from and found it coming out around the shaft. The cup that holds the rubber washers spins and seals agianst a brass bushing. Someone had dinged it with a punch and did not allow it to make that metal to metal seal. My dad surfaced them on his lathe and we then lapped them with valve grindinding compoud. We think the leak is fixed.
