Gentlemen, I have a 630 that has noise in 3rd, 5th & 6th under any load, coasting it quitens down. All other gears are quite under any condition.
Have replace the outer 1st reduction gear bearings and the idler gear bearings. Everything else looks fine. This is a low hour tractor so don't expect worn gears are the problem. Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated. Thanks Ken

Have you taken a look at the lower countershaft bearings and the sliding gear shaft bearings ? I've torn alot of these old 2 cyl. apart and very seldom are the lower shaft bearings in good shape or as tight as they should be. The lock nut loosens up and the shaft starts banging around flaking off the bearing races. You have to pull them out to inspect. alot of work !

These tractors are over 40 years old so anything could be wrong in there, but they also are not always noise free. I can't hear what you are so ? could it even be normal ? fenders added will amplify noises too.
