Hi guys

I just bought a 2550 in exc shape, 4500 hrs on it and well maintained. Only prob is I put it on my round baler and after I wanted to shut off the pto it won't shut off. The lever clicks down but it's still engaged and it seems to be fully engaged since it has enough power to run the baler in the "off" position. I'm not familiar with these pto clutches, is there a linkage under the tranny cover that could be disconnected or something simple like that or it is a major $$ adventure. I know it's hard to diagnose online ;) but if anyone had any suggestions or experiences with a situation like this in a JD I'd like to hear about it.

Thanks for any info you guys can give me. John

Yes to r&r pto clutch it has to be split between clutch and trans housings. Is your tractor open-station or SGB? Tx Jim

The pto control valve is on top of trans. It has two ports to check psi,one for clutch and one for brake. PSI should be around 175. Control valve may not be operating correctly. Worst senerio could have warped clutch discs but check pressure first. Tx Jim

Thanks alot jim I'll check that out then get back to you. If it WAS the worst case senario does the tractor have to be split in order to get at the discs?
