A trick I learned when making bolt holes is to cut a small x before putting the ball bearing or ball peen hammer over the hole. This keeps from stretching the surface around the hole.

Clyde: You could make a perfectly good joint with high-temp silicon, out of a tube. But, if you're too particular to use such shortcuts, get yourself some paper gasket material from the autoparts store. Pull your part off and position it in a vise with the gasketed surface up. Use a ball-peen hammer to cut the gasket material over the part. Makes perfect gaskets--even the holes. Nobody will ever know it wasn't store-bought.

Clyde; You're right. That ball-peen hammer works well at making gaskets. A friend at work showed me another trick to make the holes real nice too. It involves placing a ball bearing over the hole and hitting it with the hammer. Just make sure the bearing is larger than the hole. Regards; Tugboat

Clyde, you can try [email protected] he has a lot of NOS parts, but you will probably have to make it if J.D. doesn't have it. You can make a real nice one if you use gasket meterial from the local auto parts store.

Actually I agree with www. Growing up I helped my dad and granddad cut many a paper gasket from a cereal box. Just the right thickness and they work and fit perfectly.
